The AA

As the UK's largest motoring organisation the AA has been assisting motorists for over 100 years. The company was founded in 1905 as a body initially intended to help motorists avoid police speed traps. As motoring became more popular, so did we, and our activities have continued to expand into a wide variety of areas. In 1910 we published the very first AA routes with handwritten details, and by 1929 we were issuing an impressive 239,000 routes a year.

From 1912 we also started inspecting hotels and those receiving our famous AA star classification were included in subsequent editions of the Member's Handbook. We annually inspect and rate over 8,000 hotels and guest accommodations, and review more than 4,000 restaurants and pubs, all of which are showcased in our annual lifestyle guides.

Since the 1990's we have dramatically expanded our publishing activity to produce best-selling atlases, maps, travel and leisure guides for the UK and the rest of the world. We also publish a diverse range of walking, cycling, lifestyle and driving test guides and have now complimented our books with a complete range of kits and accessories for the car and home.

Through our online shop we offer fantastic prices on our most popular car accessories and kits, torches and tools, road atlases, maps, travel guides and leisure titles, as well as other solutions including our Driving in Europe and Driving in Winter ranges.

We offer FREE standard P&P to UK mainland and Ireland deliveries plus a customer-friendly return and refund policy.
