Choosing the right scale AA atlases come in a wide range of scales, from the very detailed Street by Street which boasts ⅛ mile to 1 inch (1:8,750) right down to the smaller picture of 40 miles to 1 inch scale (1: 2,500,000 ); a road atlas which ensures greater coverage of a bigger area per page. So, which scale is right for you?
Do you want to be able to easily navigate around a town/city or county at street level? To find a particular street or address as well as places of interest in that specified area? Do you want to discover the local tourist attractions/recommended hotels or restaurants or simply find everyday facilities? If so, we recommend Street By Street which generally come in three different scales ranging from ⅛ mile to 1 inch (1: 8,750) to ½ mile to 1 inch (1: 25,000)
Or do you want an atlas that shows a wealth of intricate detail including all drivable roads in Britain? If so, we recommend:
Ultra large scale
Do you want an atlas with the type and detail enlarged so that it is really easy to read? If so we recommend:
Giant scale
Or do you prefer to see a larger area of the country, to know exactly where you are in relation to more cities/towns without having to turn too many pages when travelling long distances? If so, best to go for:
